I was asked to name 3 advantages of using social media for a business and I considered the 3 main advantages to be, it allows you to advertise your products/services, it allows you to amplify your online presence and it gives you a way to keep up with current trends

Hyde Clarendon Birmingham Trip And Matt's Blog
Today I have been posting/tweeting about a trip that Hyde Clarendon students went on to Birmingham before the half-term holidays to visit the museums and galleries. The purpose of the trip was to get some inspiration for a new project that they are starting soon. I have also been gathering together more information for Matt's blog for the Coniston 14 which is only a month away now. Plus I have been down to the chill out zone to get a photograph of police officers that came in to give advice and guidance on police careers and crime provention.

Apprenticeship Blog Stories And Motorsport Competition
Today I have been working on the National Apprenticeship
Week blog again but this time instead of setting it up like I was yesterday I
was gathering together and writing up all the info from different apprentices like
me around the College into short little blog posts that tells you a little
about what they do in their day to day role, what they enjoy about their job
and a quote from their manager etc. I also included a photograph of them in the
workplace. I have also been doing the usual tweeting and posting on the
Colleges Facebook and Twitter with a story about a French university student
who came to the College for a month to get some work experience in different
departments such as mine (marketing). I have also been working on a social
media plan for a competition involving a Subaru that the motorsport students
have been rebuilding and re-spraying etc.

Apprenticeship Week Blog and Poster Photo
Today I have finished off the blog that I was creating for
apprentices like me who are working and studying at the college. The graphic
designer at the college created the top banner for me which looks great and I
made the rest of it. I used blogger, the blogging website that I usually use to
create it, making sure the theme and colour scheme fits in with the leaflets etc.
that we have produced. The blog will be for apprentices at the college to post
about what their work is like and what their job entails etc. Each day until
apprenticeship week starts I will post one of these mini profiles. This is the
web address. I have also been creating a banner for the college’s Facebook for
Apprenticeship Week. Most of my work today has been focused on the subject.
Although I have been to have my photo taken for a poster for a play which was
fun.

Hyde Clarendon Stories And Apprenticeship Blog
Today I have been mostly catching up from last week because I
was on leave on Friday. A lot of Hyde Clarendon stories have come through so I have
been posting those on to their Facebook and Twitter sites. For example I tweeted/posted
about a play that was put on in the Hyde Clarendon theatre last Thursday and
was written by one of their own tutors called ‘Like Me’ that is set in the
1980s. I also posted about the prize giving and reunion event that took place
last December at Hyde Clarendon for former and current students. Plus I have
been preparing the apprenticeship blog that Tameside College is going to be
posting too in the run up to and during apprenticeship week next month which I
am pretty excited to see happen!

Business Training And Matts Blog
Today I have been working on my apprenticeship work again. I have been writing some new tweets and posts for a new offer that the college are putting on their website for possible free training for businesses in the Greater Manchester area. I have also been working on a web article about students that have made a newsletter that will soon go out to schools in Tameside. I schedule a lot of posts/tweets now using a really helpful website called tweetdeck. It allows me to write a tweet whilst I am in work but actually posts it later for me at a time that I decide so that more people will see it since everyone goes on Facebook and Twitter when they get home rather than during the day (due to work etc). Plus I have been working on writing up a second follow up post for Matthews’s blog who is running the Coniston 14 which was actually really interesting. TCFE And English Week Tweets
Today I have been
working on the Tameside Centre for Enterprise project that I am currently in
the middle of for my apprenticeship. I have been completing the evidence
document that I need to show I completed this unit on Keywords and Search
Engine Optimisation. I have also been tweeting about English week again which
is going on around College this week. I am going to (from today) be tweeting an
English brain teaser/question every day until Friday e.g. ‘what is the longest
word in the English language’.

Tameside Centre For Enterprise and English Week
Today I have spent most of my day working on the website for the Tameside Centre For Enterprise which provides meeting facilities and conference space. The original purpose of the centre was to provide hot desking and incubation but now that has changed the website needed updating and optimising for google so that when people search for it they will be able to see it at the top of the search box. To do this I have added lots of keywords that people will search for around the site such as 'meeting rooms' and also added the centre to google maps to make sure people know how to get there and so that it again improves it ranking on google search. I have also been working on Tweets and posts for a student at Hyde Clarendon College who is running the Coniston 14 and who I am running a blog for.
